K-Beauty rom&nd Best Lip Tint for Cool Tone

Another great purchase from Hikoco ! I love the sizes and the colour this trio has to offer. I found this colour suits asian cool skin tone perfectly, the colour is pretty radiant and when i wear them, the contrast does make my skin looks brigher.

Most of them are deep cool red tone and highly pigmented. For me, 3 dots it's enough to fill my lips and i will dab them using my finger.

#06 Fig Fig and #12 Cherry Bomb has similar texture - it's more to creamy tint and its rather glossy and rich in texture. #07 Fizz's texture is creamy and matte - finishes beautifully on the lips.

They do have another sets that suits warm skin tone that has coral/peachy based. Definitely worth to buy!

Alis baru by Beauty Recipe!

Siapa yang kalo pagi berasa keburu buru banget buat siap siap, make up, ganti baju apalah segala macem sebelon sekolah ato pas nganterin anak sekolah dan mesti turun mobil?

Mayan serem ya kalo kuar bentuknya ngaco lg.

Mereka juga dipilih oleh lebih dari 100.000 orang dalam period lebih dari 1 minggu untuk "Best Permanent Makeup: Eyebrow, Eyeliner, Lip Embroidery and the Best Organic Facial from Spa & Salon 2018 Beauty Insider Award(Singapore’s Leading Beauty Review and Magazine Site)"

Belon lagi therapistnya mereka semua terakreditasi dan skill nya bagus banget. Jadilah aku book appointment pas mampir ke Singapore December kemaren. Pede aja gitu rasanya kali alis dikerjain sama award winning company.

Nyaman banget dan berasanya bener bener in good hand gitu.

Nunggu setengah jem sampe numbing cream nya bekerja baru mereka mulai prosesnya. Aku pilih Mezzo brow.

Photo yang ini fresh the next day nya. Mezzobrow ini langsung business as usual banget deh.

Setelah satu bulan, kita disuruh balik lagi untuk touch up.

Kalo misalnya kulit kita masi belom kebal, therapistnya bakalan tambahin numb cream nya lagi, supaya pas pengerjaannya..kita bener bener ga berasa sakit.

Winter is here!

LIFE is finally back on track and winter is here!

This is my 4th winter since we bought our one way ticket from Singapore to Auckland. Slowly but surely, Auckland has become a home for me - although Singapore always hold a special place in my heart.

Days ago, I miss my Singapore life badly. I felt that my life in Singapore was a kind of life that I always wanted. Vibrant. Quick pace. Advance. It was a good one. But then, I took a step back and look around here, I feel happy. I feel that I am blessed to be in a place where I can get 1 year maternity leave to be with my baby and still get paid from the government. I feel that there must be a reason we are here today, and I choose to embrace that.

Anyway, just want to say hi again after a long break from this blog.

These photos was from previous winter :)
I never got a chance to post them and I got a lot of question on how to get this makeup done.

Honestly, this was a quick makeup done at very odd hour because I couldn't sleep.
Am glad it turned out alright.

I can't remember the products I use, but hey..I will be posting more makeup stuff more frequent in my IG (@eldiona) - let's get in touch, there.

Hair Treatment at Midori Salon - Novena

One thing I realized since I become a mom is I have less and less time to make myself feel and look good, but in the same time I know - I needed to feel and look good to be able to have that " yep - this will do " to step out of the house confidently and run my day. It's funny when I posted my experience in Midori Salon - Novena in my IG stories (@eldiona) sometimes ago, I received plenty of message and comments from Mommies in Singapore on how this Japanese Salon actually their go to salon for their routine hair treatment. Honestly, I know why they pick this place..

First of all, the location is conveniently located at Novena. Is at 238 Thomson Road #03-43/44 Velocity @ Novena Square Singapore 307683 to be exact. Basically, you hop out at Novena Station, take escalator up the the 3rd floor of Novena Square and you will see this Salon.

This is the reception area. It's pretty serene and quiet for Friday morning when I was there. There were customers enjoying their treatment with a gentle conversation with the stylist. I like the ambiance. It's peaceful.

Yuan - my stylist of the day greeted me and checked my hair condition to pick the right treatment for my hair. Because I was like 30 weeks pregnant, we decided to choose the treatment that is safe for my scalp and hair. I love the fact that they care, instead of pushing me to do all hair perm or sort of highly chemical kind of treatment. This win brownie point in my eyes. :)

We decided to go with Nano treatment for my hair, which basically applying treatment with nano spray that let my hair absorbing all the nutrients.

Yuan applying the treatment patiently, section by section to ensure all part of hair gets what it needs. Then leave it for around 15-20 mins under the nano spray to work it's magic.

Can you see the nano spray steam?
Meanwhile, he gave me the BEST neck massage I ever had! I was in Japan for 10 days before I went for the treatment, and really - neck massage is what I need. Head on to my IG (@eldiona) and go to " Midori Salon " highlight section to see what I'm talking about.

Then we off to the washing and blow drying session.

No auntie style here! It's fresh, young and very up to date style I got from Yuan. The last thing I want is to leave Salon looking like auntie with tight curl! Thank goodness, we will not get this from Midori Salon.

I highly recommend Yuan as my and your stylist. He listen to what I want and he gives the best suggestion that fit to what my hair needs. Here is the price list for you to consider, but for me - I will definitely come back in a heartbeat.

Enjoy your treatment :)

Beauty Post - Chosungah 22

After spending more than 8 years in Singapore, I feel like I'm being pampered to the max in terms of convenience, technology, transport and of course shopping options. It keep up with new launches pretty fast and for me as beauty addict - it means getting access to new brand in pretty quick waiting time. Unfortunately for me now - and "thank God" for my husband, I don't have access to all shopping heaven here in New Zealand. Zara and H&M just launched a year or so ago, No Sephora in town, I repeat - NO sephora in town! Arrrggghhhh...beauty lover, can you imagine not going to Sephora for 2 years? It's drying you out, aye?

But thank goodness, God bless you - Mecca Maxima - it's now open in Queen street :D
I finally have access to my world, the world of beauty and all shades of everything you can slap on the face. LOL!

I picked this C&T Blend fresh mix by Chosungah 22. The makeup artist from Korea finally making this line and giving us a chance to have the dewy korean look that I've been ooohhh and aaahhhh-ing whenever I watch K-drama.

First impression:
Oh shit, they only have 4 colours - after a test and trial, my skin tone is on their Ivory shade. phiuff, good to know that I have matching shade, because you don't want to look ermm, weird, with different skin tone between the face and your neck, right?

The packaging is flawless. Compact and quite edgy with chrome looking all over.

The pump is quite ergonomic I would say. It's right where your thumb is when you tilt the bottle upside down to get the product out. Although it claim to be use directly from the bottle to the face, I find it turn out quite patchy on my face. So I prefer to use my BB cushion sponge or brush as applicator.

I will create makeup tutorial using this product but I personally think this product is awesome for my dry skin with Auckland spring dry climate as of now.  It could be too moist for oily skin and definitely not humid climate friendly. I'm going to test this in summer when the humidity tends to be more humid than now.

I love the coverage on this C&T Blend fresh mix. You can build them up of wear it light in just one layer. Will prepare my makeup tutorial soon, stay tuned!

K-Beauty review - CLIO Kill Cover

My February K-beauty picks!

Gonna be quick on this one!
K-beauty is surely taking the globe by storm on a strong and serious influence of anything dewy, natural looking face and lips gradation. I mean, what not to love -  look at those dewy face and youthful skin? I, myself is k-beauty lover and I just can't understand why it is so hard not to look at k-beauty trend, especially those silky dewy not over the top complexion they have! It's.That. Hard.

Anyway, am start exploring the K-brand BB cushion range and landed on this " Clio " brand. I have tried their product on sponsored post years back, and omg - they keep coming back with awesome products.

This time round, it's their so called "Kill Cover" BB Cushion.

I'm using shade no 3 - Linen. My skin is NC 25 on MAC and this suit the shade just nice. But I do feel like, this BB cushion is not going to suit olive or darker skin tone. It has a high glow in pale beige undertone. Definitely suits Asian skin tone and maybe any skin tone between NC 15 - NC 30?

The texture is HIGHLY PIGMENTED - A little goes a long way -
It's easy to blend on moisturised skin, just remember to prep up your skin before applying this BB cushion. I applied my 10 Korean Skincare steps and it works wonder.

The Con:

In the humid weather, this cushion could be pretty tricky - it takes quite a bit of time to dry up.
I would say this is quite a down side for this product, because clearly I would want that dewy effect to stay without the initial stickiness, but i have 10 mins in the morning to do my face and i don't have that bloody time to fan my face dry.

I supposed you can seal this with loose powder, but I don't like the effect with a coat of loose powder.
So, I normally - apply everything at home, drive to the office and final touch up my face in office bathroom. This solve my problem :)

Will I re-purchase this? DEFINITELY!
NZD 45 comes with a refill sounds very reasonable for me.

Anyhoo, gotta go and will be back for more beauty story :)
And oh, my pic here is with the BB cushion!

Hidden Gems: Honest SKincare

Hey guys, so I'm starting this hidden Gems section in my blog to share my newly found on anything unique and I think useful to share - and perhaps you never heard about it. So, you are welcome!

Now that I'm pretty much out and about from Singapore's blogging scene, I wanted to have something interesting to share with my lovely readers. Anything range from a great home based skincare or cosmetics brand that work just as good, to perhaps a little jewelry shop down the hidden block.

As the first, I'm gonna share up a little about the wonderful brand in skincare genre, hope you guys like it and do share up with friends and family about the great brand you about to discover, here.

We all know, honestly, in beauty industry; sometimes we are kinda clueless on what's in the jar. Do you read what it is in the ingredients? I don't. What I only care to know is if it's working. Or not.

With that in mind, I started to check #nzskincare on my instagram feed and found " HONEST SKINCARE ". The first thing that caught my attention was the brand. Then I kinda do the stalking thing by checking on Honest Skincare's website and blog, and i have to say that I like what I see in there, and i really like the way they introduce the natural skincare.

Just like our body, our skin is as important, and if you don't want to eat it, you shouldn't put it in your skin as well. ( this line is totally cool, and it's not mine, it's their's).

So, moving on.. I contacted the brand :)
Yeap - you read it right, I made the first move to contact the brand and asked if they are open to answer few interview questions (and they said  YES!, and so we are engaged!)..LOL! no, not really. But we are finally engaging in a conversation :)

When I told this a friend, she was like " wow, how special is the brand? Usually, brands emailing you all.the.time and you don't even bother to reply some of them " That is not entirely true though, i reply all of them - only sometimes with a no as an answer for collaboration.

Anyhoo, I was so pleased to get an answer directly from the founder of Honest Skincare, Ms. Tonia and she agreed for the interview!!! Yaaas!!

Check out my interview to Ms. Tonia below:

E: How would you describe your brand?
HS: Honest Skincare is all about limiting harm to people and the planet by eliminating the use of chemicals in our skincare products. We believe that processing plants, plastics and preservatives are unnecessary and we're out to prove it :)

E: When did you starting Honest Skincare? what led you to take a step in creating a natural brand and how would you see in changing people's mindset in going au natural?
Honest Skincare started for me as a hobby when I became frustrated with not being able to find truly natural skincare products on the market. There are plenty of products that claim to be safe and natural but many have to bow to the pressures of preservatives and artificial ingredients to maintain shelf life and to keep the texture of the product consistent in different climates.
My journey towards Honest Skincare started when I began to research and subsequently avoid processed foods around the time I fell pregnant with my first child around 10 years ago. Once I had eliminated most processed foods from my day-to-day diet I felt that all my efforts to eat as naturally as possible were being undone by slathering chemicals over my skin morning and night so I began to experiment with Olive Oil and Coconut Oil moisturisers. I have spent the last two years tweaking my recipes to get them perfect for sale and I think most people are ready to embrace a more natural lifestyle. There is a huge shift towards wellness industries across the board. People are in general becoming more aware of alternatives to mainstream products and are beginning to see the bigger picture and question age-old advices. There really is so much that we don't know about our bodies, about our health, about certain diseases and about the damage we're causing our planet. People are beginning to see the bigger picture which I think is a fantastic and exciting thing.

E: How much do you spend your time for study/research the products/ingredients and creating it?
HS: I spend a lot of time researching ingredients and their origins and even more time in my kitchen creating new blends and recipes! My motto has always been "if you wouldn't eat it, you shouldn't put it on your skin" so when I'm considering an ingredient I want minimally processed, natural products and preferably of organic origin. Our skin is our bodies largest organ, one that we can no longer think of as a protective barrier as it absorbs a great deal of what it comes into contact with into the bloodstream.

E: With the rise of natural products, should we as customer believe that it's 100% natural?
HS: Very good question. My answer is NO. You shouldn't believe that it's 100% natural until you've done your research. There are a massive amount of products on our supermarket shelves that claim to be natural, organic, healthy and a myriad other buzz-words and, in my experience, 99% of them aren't entirely natural. I've written a post about the Greenwashing phenomenon here (http://www.honestskincare.co.nz/blog/post/5041/Greenwashing/) Please read it and please continue to read the ingredients list of the products you're using and research the ingredients yourself. You will be surprised at how many false claims advertisers can get away with.
At Honest Skincare, every single ingredient we use is a natural, edible product and organic wherever possible. But don't take my word for it - read the ingredients and make your own mind about it.

E: What are some feedbacks you've been getting from your customer?
I got some lovely feedback just this morning from a customer who had been suffering from a very bad case of eczema on her hands and arms. She had tried all sorts of products that claimed to be natural and gentle that had only exacerbated the problem. She wrote me today on our Facebook page "Hi Honest Skincare I've been using your body butter in yummy chai and it is delicious! It's amazing to finally find a moisturiser that doesn't upset my sensitive skin. And it must smell delicious as my puppy keeps following me around! definitely recommend smile emoticon"

E: Which ones are your favorite range?
HS: My absolutely favourite flavour is Vanilla Chai. It is so sweet and dreamy! I use the serum on my face morning and evening - I actually use it as a makeup remover before I go to bed. There's no need for water I just rub a small amour gently over my face and eyes to remove my mascara and foundation. I keep my makeup routine very basic on a day-to-day basis and use only natural cosmetics from a reputable New Zealand brand as you'd expect :). I also use the Vanilla Chai Body Butter every morning on arms and legs and I use the Sugar Scrub in place of soap or body wash in my morning shower. I'm very aware of what we as a household wash down our drains, so we avoid harmful chemicals as much as we possibly can while still being clean and hygienic. Of particular concern are the plastic micro beads in body washes and face scrubs that pass through our towns wastewater filtration systems and end up in our oceans causing a huge amount of damage to sea life. Honest Skincare don't use plastics anywhere in any of our products, inside or out.

* What is your typical as mom and beauty entrepreneur?
My typical day involves getting three kids ready for school (actually they're very independent so they pretty much get themselves ready). We walk the 1.5kms to school whenever we can, then I either hit the gym or take our puppy for a run in the park. I settle down to my desk, meetings and the post shop 4 days of the working week and spend the 5th day in the kitchen creating products to keep in stock. When the kids return from school we get into homework, after school activities, cooking and eating a healthy dinner together and preparing healthy lunchbox treats for the next day. We're a pretty average city family with an emphasis on being as happy, healthy and active as possible. We all have our off days and down time and that's perfectly normal. I was always told "It's what you do every day that counts, not what you do sometimes."

E: What will be the best advise you can share in choosing the right product for our skin?
HS: 1. Read the label. Not the front, the ingredients list. And if it doesn't have an ingredients list on the package find one online or don't use the product.
2. Use Aunty Google to research the ingredients. If there's an ingredient you don't recognise, google it and read the uses and the potential side effects of use. Chances are you'll be put off from giving it a go.
3. If you wouldn't eat it, don't put it on your skin!

Check out their lovely range, and be sure to let me know what do you think about the products after you tried it. They have the sample pack for you to try and it come handy for travelling as well. My favourite items is the body butter, it melts into my skin and giving my skin the hydration it needed.

Happy shopping, and 'till the next Hidden Gems :)
